What is Stellar
XLM, the lumen, is the currency of the Stellar network, created in 2014 for cross-border payments and for issuing and transferring digital representations of currencies and other assets: it pays network fees and every account must hold a minimum balance of it. The network validates transactions with the Stellar Consensus Protocol, a consensus among validators without mining, and no more lumens are created: about 50 billion exist since inflation was removed and more than 55 billion were burned in 2019.
