What is Uniswap
UNI is the governance token of Uniswap, a crypto-asset exchange protocol running on Ethereum since November 2018 that uses liquidity pools instead of an order book: UNI is used to propose and vote on changes to the protocol. It is an ERC-20 token created on Ethereum in September 2020 that also circulates on other networks such as Arbitrum, BNB Smart Chain and Polygon; 1 billion units were created, the protocol’s governance can issue up to 2% more each year and, since December 2025, protocol fees are used to burn UNI.
