What is Tezos
XTZ (tez) is the currency of Tezos, a blockchain running since June 2018 which runs smart contracts and whose protocol changes through on-chain votes, without the need for a hard fork. It uses liquid proof of stake: validators called bakers create and validate blocks according to the tez they have staked and the tez others delegate to them. Its supply has no fixed cap: it started at about 763 million units and the protocol creates new ones as rewards for bakers and those who stake with them.
